Mutual Aid to Valhalla Car into house with Ruptured Gas line

On Wednesday November 4, 2009 at 1547 hrs. Hawthorne was dispatched for mutual-aid to the scene of a car into the house with a ruptured gas line.

Location 174 Jefferson  Ave. cross of E. Cambridge St.

Units operating Valhalla FD 2481. TL49, R9, E82, E84, Hawthorne 2196/L56, on location 2192, E155 S/B at Entrance Way F/H, Thornwood FD, 2471, TL1 Independant F/H, Valhalla Vac, 37Medic1, 37Medic2, MPPD Patrol & Detectives, Batt.11, Con Ed Emerg. Super. Con Ed Gas & Electric, 60 Control Dispatchers.

Original dispatch was for Valhalla FD, Valhalla VAC, 37Medic1 for a car into the house with possible gas leak. MPPD on the scene reporting vehicle into the structure with a gas line rupture and starting to evacutate the strutcure and the area. Requesting an expidite on FD, Ambul., and Medic. Upon arrival of 2481 re-confirming the accident and requesting L56 from Hawthorne to the scene along with Con Ed Gas & Electric to the scene with an expidite. Valhalla units on scene hit the hydrant and stretched 2 - 1.75 hand lined for precautions. 2196/L56 on location and to standby at the corner of E. Cambridge St. & Jefferson Ave. Valhalla VAC along the Medic transported one patient to the WMC. Once Con Ed was on location they started to shut down the gas to the structure Valhalla crews were able to then ventilate the structure. Once the scene was secured and gaswas shut and house ventilated L56 was placed back in service per 2481.

Crews were on scene for approx. 2 hrs.

During the call Batt.11 / 2481 requested 1 & 1to cover Valhalla. 2191/E155 relocated to Entrance Way F/H while 2471/TL1 relocated to Independant F/H
