Three Back to Back Calls

On Wednesday 12/2/09 Hawthorne FD had three back to back calls starting at @ 1235 hrs.

The first call was located at 135 Elwood Ave. cross streets of Prince St. and Stevens Ave. type of call was a problem with a gas stove. Units operating were 2191, L56, MPPD. upon arrival units were advised that the owner was having a problem with the ignition of the stove and started smelling gas. Upon inspection of the unit crews found a problem the igniter. H/O was advised to contact a service repairmen.

Upon taking up from this call Hawthorne received a second call IFO 200 Saw Mill Rv. Rd. (RT9A) for an MVA. Units operating 2191, E155, 63B1, 37M1, MPPD, Valhalla VAC, Pleasantville VAC. Per 2191 on scene reporting 2 car mva with three patients. Mutual Aid was called for additional ambulances. All patients were transported with minor injuries.

While this call was in process a 3rd call came in for a smell of natural gas coming from a manhole cover. Units operating 2481, 2482, R9, E82, MPPD, Con Ed Emerg. Super. Valhalla FD was called for mutual aid due to the fact that we were operating already at a the MVA on Rt 9A. Valhalla units checked the area and then turned the scene over to Con Ed for further investigation.
